Rock City Construction demonstrates its commitment to environmental responsibility in many ways; we believe even the small steps make a difference. We have been a member of the United States Green Building Council since 2004. Rock City is also a Live Green Partner at the platinum level for implementing resource conservation measures and demonstrating a culture of sustainability in our business operations. We have reduced our environmental footprint by implementing an inter-office recycling program; we recycle paper, cardboard, aluminum, tin, plastic and glass. Paper consumption has been reduced by printing two-sided when possible and only printing when necessary. We discourage the use of plastic bags, styrofoam, and bottled water. Many of our general office consumables are made from post-consumer materials, including paper made from paper, not trees. Our office is an open air space with operable windows, using less energy on appropriate weather days. Flowers and greenery are planted in our soil beds each spring and we always turn off the lights when not in use. Our commitment to
the environment extends beyond office operations. We have two
staff members with LEED AP credentials and two staff members with LEED GA credentials as well as several other team
members preparing to sit for the LEED GA exam in 2011; we are eager to work on projects with LEED
certification goals. Rock City will continue to discover new
ways to minimize our environmental footprint and help our clients
minimize theirs.
