May 1957, from the cover of the

HURST CONSTRUCTION NEWS (right), the caption reads:

 "Tennessee's State Capitol - the 102 year old Lady on the Hill - is getting her first overall renovation in history that includes a steam bath and replacement of fossillated limestone.  Rock City Construction Co. has been on the $1,969,000 project since March, 1956, and completion is anticipated by January, 1958."
